Re: Foam Bed in a Box?

I have had 3 back surgeries, and multible other bones sawn and am old and wracked with arthritis. On my boat I only have a 4" foam mattress topper over
4"s of foam cushions. It is okayish, but at home I have an expensive bed and a 12" foam mattress in a box in the guest room. I wake up feeling the same from either bed. I think it is a good idea you had. I would do the same on Mana, but we sleep in a vee berth without a lot of headroom and I think with my face rubbing the deck beams I would not feel so rested when I got up.

BTW, there is a modular spring style mattress support out there, It was mentioned in a thread a few months back. You can "build" to any shape you want.

Re: Foam Bed in a Box?

I think a 4"+4" is a decent mattress for any liveaboard, for sleeping, resting, and fun too

Foam Bed in a Box?

There is latex, and then there is latex.
Not to be sarcastic, but people lie to sell you something. Latex is a natural, not synthetic rubber and it’s heavy, and expensive.
I’m only including this link to show that there is synthetic latex, which of course is a lie, it’s not latex. I know absolutely nothing about this company, I am not recommending them, just they explain latex pretty well.

Point being, if it’s not real latex as in rubber from a tree latex, well it ain’t latex

Re: Foam Bed in a Box?

I've had good luck with foamorder.com
I bought "toppers" from the clearance section and cut them with an electric carving knife to fit my oddly shaped berth. I got a firm density 4" base block of latex for support and a 2" soft 19-20 IDL topper. It's pretty comfy.

Very true, ours is legit, unadulterated, stiffened tree ooze. (:

I'll bet the ads have Latex in large print and synthetic in the type which is microscopic.
