An example of rampant misrepresentation of IPCC reports is the frequent assertion that ‘hundreds of IPCC scientists’ are known to support the following statement, arguably the most important of the WG I report, namely “Greenhouse gas forcing has very likely caused most of the observed global warming over the last 50 years.”
In total, only 62 scientists reviewed the chapter in which this statement appears, the critical chapter 9, “Understanding and Attributing Climate Change”. Of the comments received from the 62 reviewers of this critical chapter, almost 60% of them were rejected by IPCC editors. And of the 62 expert reviewers of this chapter, 55 had serious vested interest, leaving only seven expert reviewers who appear impartial.
Two of these seven were contacted by NRSP for the purposes of this article - Dr. Vincent Gray of New Zealand and Dr. Ross McKitrick of the University of Guelph, Canada. Concerning the “Greenhouse gas forcing …” statement above, Professor McKitrick explained “A categorical summary statement like this is not supported by the evidence in the IPCC WG I report. Evidence shown in the report suggests that other factors play a major role in climate change, and the specific effects expected from greenhouse gases have not been observed.”
Dr. Gray labeled the WG I statement as “Typical IPCC doubletalk” asserting “The text of the IPCC report shows that this is decided by a guess from persons with a conflict of interest, not from a tested model.” The UN Climate Change Numbers Hoax

Who is this expert, and what are his credentials?

Richard S. Courtney is a Technical Editor for CoalTrans International (journal of the international coal trading industry). According to a search of 22,000 publications, Courtney has never published any research in the area of climate change, and doesn’t appear to have any particular education.

The companies who are hired thru front companies, to hide their trail from their real sponsors,the coal gas and oil companies, are the same companies once hired by the tobbaco industry to tell us that smoking is harmless. No surprises here.

To be honest I like having Al Gore around, Joe Biden too for that matter; makes me feel much better about my kids chances to excell.

My littlest made a wonderful comment about a year ago. We were watching the news that had been talking about Al Qaeda and Al Jazeer (sp?) and she looked up and said; "Daddy, why are all the bad guys named Al? and what does that mean for Al Gore?"

A couple of weeks ago on the way to school she asked me; "Daddy, where does the President get all his money?"

Alas, this should not be a political issue, but rather a scientific one. And scientific debates do not take the form as they appear in a debate or a web forum, because in the case of science, not all arguments are equal. Almost every argument against man-made global warming that appears in the popular press or blogs has already been debated by the scientists in the scientific literature and refuted. For anyone who cares to actually look at the scientific consensus and why it exists, rather than talking points of politicians, I highly recommend this website.

Follow the money: Corporate scientists get their money from companies looking to make or continue their profit. "Community" scientists are looking to make or continue funding from the ever bigger government. All are biased.

Look at their leader: Al Gore stands to profit from the global warming issue and yet his own personal lifestyle suggests that he doesn't care about the Earth or he knows it doesn't matter what he does.

Look at the common sense: In a small closed biosphere polution does have a negative effect that we should control. The Earth as a whole is an awefully big biosphere; my ego isn't big enough to allow me to think I can change the whole of it so easily. I believe the volcanoes and other naturally venting areas are big contributors where as we humans are but a dot on the chart.

Look out the window: I saw snow in Cocoa Beach a couple of weeks ago.

That map was posted by Hanson. It took 2 years of FOIA requests to see data he kept hidden that was proven to be wrong by quite a bit when it was finally released. What was he trying to hide? You have to consider him unreliable.
GW advocates have been systematically removing temperature guages that are 'skewing' their data towards cooling and continie to rely on guages that have had asphalt parking lots and air conditioning units placed around them.

As a noted MIT physicist stated, consensus is for politicians. Science is about facts not consensus. Columbus (remember Columbus, he was a sailor) went against ALL the 'consensus' that the world was flat. That worked out pretty well.

A common thread in denialism is to avoid checking your sources. Is it too much to ask people to be critical of their sources, even ones they (want to) agree with?

Beck is not actually a scientist, he is a (retired?) high school teacher (Gymnasium) for biology and physics from Freiburg.

It's been dry and a balmy 60 degrees here in Northwest Washington for a couple of days this week The jet stream is south due to El nino' and LA is getting the brunt of it........ uh oh... the grass is starting to grow!
