Finally Moved Aboard in Virginia

After what feels like a lifetime of preparation and getting ready, I have finally moved aboard my boat in Virginia!

I flew into DC from LAX with my Doberman, spent Saturday touring DC and then hitched a ride south to the boats. We arrived at our marina yesterday afternoon and was greeted by a friendly welcoming party that helped us get set up and moved aboard.

For the time being, I purchased 28' Bristol (Dynamite Lady) to live on while I refit my Cheoy Lee Offshore 31 (Edisto). Now its time to hunker down and stay warm for this super cold front coming through and start getting my plan of attack together for refitting Edisto.

Mamba had no problem hopping aboard Dynamite Lady and taking the helm.

Liquidkangaroo, Welcome to the community. You've set a high benchmark if you expect to have a boat looking as good as your dog.
Keep us posted of your progress!

Re: Finally Moved Aboard in Virginia

Thanks everyone! We have been enjoying our first 2 days aboard! Last night at about 11pm I opened the cabin door to a flurry of snow. Coming from Southern California, It was probably the first snow I had been in for 10 years at least so that was really cool. Mamba even played around in it for 10 minutes before coming back inside to warm up next to the heater.

I will be sure to share more of Mamba's -and my- experiences with you as he tends to be the star of the show everywhere we go anyways. I am keeping a photo/video blog of my adventure, but I want to look up the forums rules on posting your own links before I do.

Re: Finally Moved Aboard in Virginia

spent a fair bit of time just a bit from you, in Callao.

The Backdraft Restaurant was pretty good food. There ain't much around the Northern Neck...

Callao was actually my last stop for hot food before we arrived at the marina. I have heard a few good things about the Backdraft. Thinking of walking down on Saturday, weather permitting, to check it out. But you're right, there is almost nothing here. It's a good thing I have 2 months worth of dehydrated food stores. Haha.
