Fewer Barnacles on My Anchor Rode ?

I've been laying on the hook for about a month in Boca Ciega Bay, FL and my 3/4" nylon anchor rode has grown to about 3" diameter with an ecosystem of it's own.

Does anyone know of a way to keep this from happening, or at least slowing the growth? (other than pulling it up, hoisting sail and not spending too much time on the hook)

Our all chain rode never had any growth on it. We never spent more than a month at any one anchorage, however. Got a feeling that anti-fouling your anchor line would cause more problems that it would solve.

Run two rodes and alternate every couple of weeks and allow to air dry or soak in fresh water

Rope rodes grow stuff. It's a fact of life. All chain is zinc coated, barnacles usually don't grow so well on zinc.

I imagine it could be cleaned, but it may prove quite difficult.

I never saw a barnacle on my anchor chain, and it has been down for weeks at a time all around the world.
