Dragging anchor

I woke up this morning to a rather stiff breeze so I looked it up:



I see even stiffer winds in the Gulf. I wonder if they are coming my way. I had some issues with dragging anchor in St. Martin during the Christmas winds (~40 kts that day). I have a 44# Danforth on a 39' Beneteau. I threw an auxilary Fortress at about 30 degrees from the Danforth but still drug some. Any suggestions for weathering winds >30-35kts on the hook?

How do you conjugate the verb to drag?

English verb drag conjugated in all tenses.

there is a front coming from mexico to you. be safe. place a kellet or extra chain or a second anchor on the chain you are using so you do not drag.
150 ft chain and th e2 anchors should hopefully do it. find yourself a mangrove bank and med tie in there. point nose into wind and hunker down.

Where are exactly? Bottom type? Protection? Forecast wind direction?

Have you thought about adding weights to your chain to increase the catanary curve?
They will also act as little shock absorbers

He is not looking for advice - this is just a Navionics advert. He is commercially involved with them and puts this type of bait on multiple forums. He even posts as his "wife" at times as a sock puppet. He never returns to any of his posts after asking for this type of help - he only wants to draw traffic to pictures of the app and its features.

I dragged anchor in Guadeloupe. I was saved from flying home by the reef near the entrance to Deshais bay which caught my boat's anchor while I was ashore. In St Martin if I was prescient enough to know winds were coming I'd arrange to anchor near Bellevue or west of the Grand islet. and put as many anchors as I could out, and dive on them to ensure they are well buried. Plus I'd stay on the boat, unless the winds were likely to be hurricane strength, so I could deal with drifting.

If you've only the brain to carry a crappy Danforth after the abuse they've received over the years..

Very strange. I guess the navionics app doesn't work very well. I'd suggest weather4D pro for a more accurate appraisal. If you look the wind is veering and abating to 5kn by this afternoon.

Yes, but I think Sunday is when it's going to be wicked, I haven't looked for a couple of days, but last time I did, Sun was going to be interesting.
