Right, Why do so many people in sailing have these... "you don't really want to do this" attitude? Is it like a hazing? I have been looking into buying a boat for a while, and especially since I moved out to hawaii to buy a boat, its like there are more people telling me not to than there are people encouraging me. Whats with this? There is a difference between cautioning people to be realistic and crushing peoples hopes, but i guess there are miserable people in every lifestyle that need some company.

On the other hand, thank you so much to all the people that have positive and cautionary tales for us newbies. It is nice to get a realistic but nice view of what can be accomplished with the right amount of work and dedication.

May I learn from others misery and failures!
