Dieter and Gerda

Do any forum members know what happened to the German couple Dieter and Gerda that were Crusoe-ing in the Las Perlas islands in the gulf of Panama in the late 80s?

Re: Dieter and Gerda

Thanks GordMay. That's fascinating. I would love to know how these recluse lives play out. Dieter was over 60 in 1988 so must be mid-80s now. That's good going.! I recall their steel boat "Seeferdchen" (little sea horse), was badly rusted then and wondered what they'd do when it rusted at the water line and sank. At the time of my visit there was just the beginnings of a hut on shore and they used to sleep on board to escape the no-seeums. I hope someone is writing a biography on them!
