Deleware Marina Recommendation

Would love your recommendations on a Delaware Marina that can handle us over the summer. We have 41' Cat - with 25 foot beam, 65' mast for bridge clearance.

Need a live aboard slip for June and July and a haul-out and dry dock for August - need a haul-out that can handle the beam, a marina that can help with repair. Also need to be aware of bridge clearance. And and, a good strategy for bad weather!!

Finally, it would be great it the marina was in a cool spot with good people!

Thanks so much!

Jeff

Re: Deleware Marina Recommendation

Good luck! I think you will be hard pressed to get that in DE. Maybe on the canal in Delaware city or the other c and d canal marina...can't recall the name. You can go through the canal and find a good marina on the sassafras river in Galena md. Right next to the kitty knight house inn. Only a few miles to middletown DE from there. The Bohemia river has marinas as well but I don't know if they can handle the cat.

What part of DE do you want to be near? You might call the Lewes marina, it's close to Rehoboth and check with them... not sure if they can support you though. That's about all you options for DE😥

Georgetown yacht basin is the one next to the kitty knight house inn. I'm sure they can meet all your needs...except the DE part. But very close driving distance.

Re: Deleware Marina Recommendation

Delaware City Marina is on the Delaware at the North end of the canal.

Summit North is the one in the canal.

Leipzig, DE has a big lift (70 ton.) but no community. Very rural.

If you mean "on the Delaware" look for the marina in Greenwich, NJ.

But call, beam is your problem obviously.

Re: Deleware Marina Recommendation

Summit North in the C&D Canal -- Bear, Delaware -- probably can meet some of your requirements. They have a long face dock that might work with your beam. Call first. Not much else around there in the immediate vicinity, though.

The marina in Delaware City is up an older, now unused part of the Canal, not sure you'd have room to turn in there. Nice folks, but not much of a town for a long period of time. Worth a call, maybe.

Might be something in Lewes, but that'd take some research. We've only stayed at the city dock, which is quite nice, but I don't think they can make that a long-term answer.

The State-run marina in Indian River Inlet is very nice, but I don't remember much in the way of service facilities... and it's not within walking distance to towns. Bicycles could work...

Don't know first-hand about other DE options, but you could check ActiveCaptain if you haven't already.

The haul-out issue is likely the biggest deal. Thought I saw a thread on here somewhere about hauling a beamy cat somewhere around Annapolis... i.e., not Delaware...
