Re: Dating, Relationships livingaboard

OP, I don't know what your ability to travel internationally is, but head over to Central America, there's plenty of good women there that would easily take to your lifestyle. You could work over your computer.

I deeply regret not being married for the first time until I was 59yo. I would have had a much better life if I had been married.

Re: Dating, Relationships livingaboard

I believe that falling in love and living together happily can happen anywhere. I met my 3rd and final wife ashore and introduced her to the boating/cruising lifestyle gradually. She took to it like a duck to water because she knew how important it was to me. She became an accomplished brightwork specialist and loved living aboard and cruising.
When ill health (mine) forced us ashore she made the adjustment and we are still together after 20+ years. We have wonderful memories of our time together living aboard and cruising, probably showed us how important co-dependency is.
Hats off to Lizzie Belle and Ann both of whom we admire greatly... Phil

If you are talking about not dating a guy because he drives a new chevy rather than your preferred new bmw, I would agree. She's probably shallow or a gold digger.

But when the guy looks like a bum on a floating hulk...first impressions count and even most deep women won't give you the time of day.

It's only recently we started letting kids choose their spouse. Our great grandparents knew "we can live on love" makes great romance stories but it's not a good long term plan.

Find a nice guy with his own live aboard, date for a bit, get married, sell both boats, buy a bigger boat, sail off into the sunset happily ever after!

If you believe the theories, you are born liking guys or you aren't. Since the male OP was asking about girls...I suspect he wasn't born that way.

Honestly, things aren't so bad the OP has to change his sexual preference to get a partner And even if he did, he'd probably end up with a loner solo sailor. Better stay single

Oh well, Swap guy for girl in the sentence. or not if you swing that way. I'm pure hetro male myself, but would not be using the moniker shesailor either, it's rather misleading and could cause penetration problems!

World of difference swapping guy for girl....and not just in that way.

It's a pure sexist double standard but a lot of guys will take a crack at an attractive girl living on a boat it's a lot less likely the other way around.

Your absolutely correct. Myself, I'm single going on 11 years, I called it quits after the third divorce at 50 years old. 61 now and loving my life just the way it is!

so I guess having a yacht and being foreign must have some sort of allure for foreign girls.
Ha, I had a three year long relationship with a girl from South Africa. The English side, not the Boer side. I'd concur with your observation. Maybe the 16 year age difference didn't help either.

Re: Dating, Relationships livingaboard

The question is what you consider your dating pool. If you consider your dating pool to be "anyone with that can fog a mirror", then yes, living on a boat hurts your chances.

If you consider your dating pool to be "people who share your passions and interests for a specific lifestyle", then you are exactly on track to maximize your dating pool.
