Seriously? You don't find one attractive person in this crowd? I think sometimes during our lives we humans set such high limits that we fail to see the opportunities.

Ask yourself who is guilty of seeking "bling"? Bling to some women is a wealthy man that provides necessity and luxury, bling to some men is a woman that provides necessity and "arm candy". We've all been objectified at some point in our lives. Right?

It's spring time, we all know what this season brings
Literally none. All unattractive women in that image search result.

I have very different standards than that. I've always been with much, much more attractive women than those and won't ge letting my boat get in the way of that.

And vice versa, it is easy for women to meet people as well, I really wonder if there is a real shift away from long term relationships since the world has shrunk so much with the advent of new technology.
This is a huge factor. The world isn't what it used to be. You can meet up with a new one every day of the week...and so can they.

There is absolutely a huge shift away from long term relationships.

Re: Dating, Relationships livingaboard

Many have posted that in dating, just like in a job search, you want to clean up and put your best foot forward..While I agree with being the best "you " that you can, I also do not want to present myself as being something that I am not. I would not want the other person to get attracted to something that is "whitewash". Sure, it is good for that to bring them in to meet the "real you"..but, I'd never show up to a date wearing a tuxedo and ordering martinis (shaken not stirred) and trying to play myself off as an international debonaire millionaire..they'd find out soon enough that I am quite simple in most aspects. Although I can dress up and talk the talk with the best/rest, I have no interest in it. A superficial woman/man is the last thing you need if you are looking for a companion to share your boat with..they are not the type that will last on a boat anyway..right? Be who you are, so that you will attract who is compatible. No reason fishing for halibut, when you prefer trout.

This has always been a thought of mine..that marriages don't work for the most part these days, and it is not because they were better in "the old days"..Women just had fewer choices back then. They "needed" men more than they do now..financially, and socially due to expectations of society in those days. Marriages were no happier then than now, they were just tolerated by the spouse that was unhappy. You did what was expected of you back then..whereas people now are taught that if they don't like their circumstances, they change them. Women have more options in regards to supporting themselves financially..and there is little stigma anymore of being divorced.

disclaimer: this is all based on my own personal thoughts, and based on US society.

Re: Dating, Relationships livingaboard

Looks like one other issue with some posters here is that they are judging their prospective partner on the out appearance of said partner. I know we all want an attractive spouse, etc. But, if that is your only criteria, then you are a sad sort indeed. Do I want a high-maintenance Barbie type? Heck no! I prefer a natural beauty, with more to offer inside. Someone that is attractive to me..not necessarily to everyone else. Someone that can look good in shorts and a t-shirt with very little makeup and effort...someone that does not need an hour to "fix" their hair. My likes have changed since I was a stupid high school boy drooling after the blonde cheerleader. To me, anyone still enamored by that has a fairly low amount of intelligence.
And, I'd much rather spend my time on a boat than chasing a one-night stand with such a person...if those are your life's goals, then so be it..don't pretend you are sailor when your sole reason to own a boat is because you think it will get you laid.

Do you want to sail or Cruise on an Ugly Boat?
Of course not...now everyone has a different opinion of what is ugly or pretty, but sheesh are we that politically correct now where we can honestly say looks don't matter?

I hate to bring the discussion back to reality...but typically the first thing that draws you to a perspective "date" is looks. This isn't PC class 101 or some woman's studies class on a collage campus folks. To deny reality of how men and women are wired is to deny reality. Which, seems to be happening more and more these days....

I'd rather cruise an ugly boat that floats than a beautiful vessel that does not. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
I also ride a motorcycle and have heard the statement many times "Chrome don't get you home".
Do I want a hideous companion? Nope..certainly did not mean that in any way..I am just saying that someone who forms opinions of people solely based on exterior characteristics lacks depth. Certainly their choice to be such, but it seldom leads to life long happiness. I'd personally rather be happy with an "8", than spend my life looking for a constant stream of "10"s that are empty vessels.

It is funny sometimes how many men (4's or 5's) want women who are (10's).
