You could always join World ARC: World ARC As I understand it goes around the world in 2 years, with lots of socializing and partying. The good thing is that some of the planning is taken care of by organizers. The bad (?) thing is that you'd need a bigger boat.

P.S. Not associated with them in any way except for chatting with one of the organizers at a boat show once.

I would humbly suggest that a 2 yr around the world - is a little too quick.....

Most people passing through Langkawi - are on 5-7 Year trips (considered the norm), people who take more than 10 years are not trying too hard, but people under 3 years (2 may not be possible due to winds/conditions etc) - are simply not seeing the sights.

From the US - your next "Big" land fall is Australia/Pacific Islands .... a mere 5000 miles - from Europe the next "Big" land fall is say Trinidad - aprox 3000 miles.... yet each year PLENTY of wives/partners end their RTW trip in Trinidad.....

Why rush ?

Please tell me how I can get a guaranteed 6% (after inflation, fund fees, etc.) on my nest egg. No matter what the market does. Regardless of bubbles and collapses.

There are no guarantees in money nor in life, when will people get this concept? Better return = higher risk. But even with no return at all, there is still a risk of you not getting anything. Your money isn't safe anywhere. Just be prudent and act when action is needed. Money for nothing doesn't exist.
