Book that shows how to bend on sails

Need to know if there is a book with pictures that explains how to bend sails on a sloop that is cutter rigged. I have an Island Packet 31'. I had to take the sails off last autumn and now I have to put the sails back on. My real concern is how to re-install the jib on the roller furling device?

Way too complicated to explain every minute detail. Just ask someone in the marina to show you how. Buy them a beer.

I'll present a generic answer for this task, but there might be some specific added needs related to your type of furling system. These are the "steps":

1- Select a day without significant wind or with a light breeze forward of the beam.
2- Pre-wind the furling line on the drum in the proper direction so that the sacrificial strip on the sail will become the outside cover when the furling line is pulled for furling the sail.
3- Lay the sail out on the foredeck with the head and tack at the bow and the clew aft.
4- Loosely attach the sheets to the clew and the halyard at the head. mindful that all is led fair.
5- Feed the bolt rope of the leech into the bottom of the foil while the halyard is raised.
6- Attach the tack before the last tightening of the leech with the halyard.
7- Furl the sail or sail away! ...have fun!
Take care and joy, Aythya crew
