Boat Insurance for Around the World Cruise

I am planning an around the world sailing cruise, and would like to know the following re Insurance:
* is it compulsory?
* my boat is Brazilian flag, can i get any international insurance company to insure?
* names, sugestions.

Insurance is needed if you have financing and in some marinas. It wil be expensive and there are a limited number of underwriters. Any boat insurance agent can help you - the insurance will probably be underwriten by the Lloyds group of underwriters.
