Boat Cards

My First Mate, created a Boat card. Great idea, has the crew and email contacts and Boats name and locale. Easy to give to other boaters and perfect to express the lifestyle.

Do any of you also use them?

Re: Boat Cards

If you cruise you will use them almost daily. People tend to remember you boat name better than your name :-)

Re: Boat Cards

Yup, very handy. Ours features our boat name, basic contact info, and photos of our boat, and each of us.

I'm currently experimenting with some iPad apps to digitize and organize the cards we receive. But I love give, and receiving, the actual cards.

Love boat cards. Started keeping some in my pocket to give away. Have used them on shore also. Vendors and marinas tend to remember you if they have your boat card.

I've just updated mine. Cruising people usually refer to you by your boat name and most cards have a pic of the boat which helps you to
remember.

Re: Boat Cards

Boat cards are a necessity if you cruise much at all and want to be friendly with other cruisers. You might want to be careful about distributing email addresses. When we first started cruising we had our email addresses on the cards. Wasn't long until we were receiving a great deal of unsolicited and unwanted emails from people and businesses we did not know. So we changed our boat cards to reflect something like:

Sailmail: WDC9999
Winlink: KF4FTK
www.svBeBe.com

Sailors know how to address the Sailmail and Winlink email addresses. If the card falls into hands of non-sailors, they do not know how to use those email addresses. And, of course, if they don't know how to use Sailmail or Winlink email addresses, they can always go to our blogsite and contact us from there. This cut way down on the number of unwanted emails received.

Just a thought you might want to consider.

Judy

Note: those are NOT our real Sailmail and Winlink #s
