Best SMALL Sailboats to Live On

What are the best small sailboats to live on? Say under 26 feet.

The best depends upon what you wish and is important to you. That said, years ago when I was researching sailboats under 30' that would support long term life afloat I saved my working files. This page is from those days, though I have updated a bit and now include power boats too.

Janice142 The Boat List

As I understand it, that is the largest repository of sailboats under 30' on the web. It's not fancy, but I suggest you start there to find your dream boat.

And yes, the Dana is an amazing boat, albeit very pricey. The Flicka has her merits. So too does the ColvicWatson's (24' and 26') plus the NorSea27 is sweet.

Anyway, have fun and good luck watersofdiego.

Re: Best SMALL sailboats to live on

Your asking is akin to asking how long is a piece of string?

At any rate, the Nor'sea 27 as mentioned is an awesome boat, Albin Vegas have done many epic ocean journeys, and the Nebe Cape 28 if you can find one is outstanding.

You may also want to look at this one that is advertised here. Looks like it's been all over the Pacific.

Great Boats at Great Prices?

Re: Best SMALL sailboats to live on

If I can't have a shower big enough to turn around without banging my elbows into the walls, I'm camping. Which pretty much lets out "26 feet" as a place to live.

Just one man's opinion. Not that I have anything against camping.

Re: Best SMALL sailboats to live on

I owned an albin vega for 5 years and highly recommend it, although it is 27 feet.

Re: ...Albin Vegas have done...ocean journeys...

Another thumbs-up for the Vega, we sailed one from England to the eastern Mediterranean and lived-aboard for the best part of ten years.

[QUOTE=avb3;1574459]Your asking is akin to asking how long is a piece of string?

Alternatively there's: How much does a car cost? How high is a ladder?

Re: Best SMALL sailboats to live on

Lindenberg 26, huge boat with a great interior layout, similar to a and cape dory 25d or Vancouver 27 but very fast compared to most boats in this size range.
