As cruisers you can mever be sure what you are putting into your tank or indeed what is in your tank. Ours tsted and smelt not very good onsome occasions. I had two teenagers that would only drink bottled water. Ifitted the seagull and they cannot the difference. Saved me a fortune.
Also had a friend in Greece who saw a shop owner filling water bottles fro his tap and re sealing them before selling them on.
I agree they are expensive but peace of mind is worth it.
Someone also fitted it in his fridge to cool the water as well.
Find a cruiser and you will usually find a Seagull for good reason.

If live aboard=on a dock with shore power ,then I would go bigger esp. if a day job was maintained.What has been said so far is all you need.
If live aboard= Cruising about and living on the hook,then you would be well advised to read through the thousands of postings here on CF and elsewhere.
The difference is the same as camping in your back yard vs treking in the Himaylas

You won't daysail if it takes all day to get the boat ready. The first sign that you're no longer a sailor is when you've got potted plants aboard.

Keep the boat in a condition where you can be under sail within 30 minutes of when the whim to sail strikes. Our biggest task getting the boat ready is to remove the protective covers from the eisenglass on the dodger. In the winter months I have to empty the dehumidifier and stow it in the shower. Other than that, there may be a few small tasks such as stowing the toaster in its garage.

We're not only underway within 30 minutes, we're under sail.

Keep the cabin dry if you can, but if you can't, keep a few bottles of vinegar and a stay bottle handy just in case.

The Pur faucet mounted cartridge filter with their highest level purification cartridge. Very reasonably priced and the purification standard keeps improving all the time. Their latest filter is even addressing the little known issue of pharmacuetical's in the water supply. Home Depot, Lowes, BJ's, etc.

I'm going to respectfully disagree with that. What if you get on board and you just don't like living on a boat? i never used it (not for a single night) but I was glad I still had options. Took a lot of pressure off.

I wouldn't go back to land now unless it was medically necessary.

This things are also great for making really bad vodka into good vodka.

White vinegar is natural and kills mildew, but won't kill you. As for smell, it's not like I spray it on every day, but it does sorta smell like I had salad for dinner.

Vinegar is also great for cleaning hands and tools after working with epoxy -- it neutralizes it. I like to say it reminds me if my salad days...

I am the woman with a pension who wants to go as soon as possible and I have to convince Hubby to go now. It is a good time to buy the boat and my pension is quite enough to make things work IMO. He does want to go but he is nervous

Our daughter will be moving into an appartment in a few months for her studies. As soon as she is out, the cable is out and the stove will probably go with her. The fridge would too but it is too high.

Reduce before moving onto the boat, that is the best advice!!

P.S. When I was young, my parents would bring us camping every summer and we had the best of times with just the essential.
