so am i too assume that there is no liveaboard association in BC? if not what would it take to get one started? personally i think that liveaboards need a voice someone to express their concerns to politicians marina owners etc... not saying i would take this on but would love to contribute to this wonderful way of life.

...Didn't find anything on Google; there is one for Shilshole in Washington, though - that's pretty close. ![]() It's a fair bit of work to start up a non-profit, but not a huge amount - and the few associations out there provide a good starting point. Having an association might be of value, though; there are some issues on the table that a common voice might help to influence in the right direction. Whereabouts on the island are you? |

Cool. That's where our new boat came from - and where my old boat is now, I think. ...Would be a bit of work to scope out the whole thing, but the biggest question to be asked right off the get-go would be 'why do we need one?' ...I can't honestly come up with an answer right now - but then again, I'm supposed to be working. :P

Yup, we did - wife chose it. Needs lots of TLC, but she's a frickin' tank, and all the rest will come out in the wash.

Yup, in Victoria Harbour at Westbay. We love it there. ...I'll talk to some folks around the marina and see if they see any value in the idea.

I have heard of a Heather Street, False Creek, Marina ~ live aboard association; something like that. Googling creatively may find them, much better than starting a new society without knowing what else is around.

would be nice to get folks together form some sort of liveaboard society something regulated something that could be a voice for all liveaboards. seems like everywhere you turn someone is trying to get rid of liveaboards.

Don't know if Heather Marina in False Creek has an association, it does allow livaboards though. Just down a ways is Spruce Harbour Marina and The Greater VAncouver Floating Home Co-op. Not really floating homes but livaboard boats. It really pertains only to their marina but they might have some insight into establishing a co-op, association, federation.... |

| Unfriendly BC
Once BC people discovered gold; real estate and the railway they turned their back on the sea, it seems. They have been unfriendly towards healthy living since then: including aboard yachts, which are now called mere boats... |
