Barbados Info needed

Crossing Atlantic in Nov/Dec.
First port of entry will be Barbados.
I intend to complete formalities in Bridgetown.

I read that the government were building a new custom & immigration building so that cruising yachts no longer needed to go to the Cruise Ship terminal to clear in. This was to happen in conjunction with a 40 berth cruising yacht facility at Shallow Draught Dock.

Can anyone confirm that the new custom building is completed and that its now easier to clear in and that you no longer need to wait for Cruise ships to leave?

If so can I simply call ahead that I'm arriving, hoist the Q flag and once contact made head straight to a berth?

Any other info on cruising around Barbados would also be much appreciated. Are there enough anchorages (prefer to anchor when I can)

Thanks

PS New Zealand registered yacht

Re: Barbados Info needed

Don't know about any new check in procedures.

Carlisle bay is pretty much the only anchorage, but it was very rolly in the same southeast wind that made an easy sail from Tobago.

Impressed with the level of edcation and dress of the locals.

The YC was very welcoming and friendly--one of the members gave us a 5 hour tour of the island in his car.

If you wear a red Mt Gay hat, the distillery tour is free.
