We travel the Bahamas in a Manta 42 catamaran returning to Florida for hurricane season. Sailing and living aboard a catamaran would indeed be easier on you wife's back. I have owned six monohulls over the years, the last an Island Packet 350, loved sailing a monohull; life is just easier on a catamaran. Many folks who have never cruised on a catamaran will tell you what it's like. It maybe best to talk w/ folks that have real experiences.
