Awesome Liveaboard Communities in the Puget Sound

Hey all,

I'm casting off the lines in May and planning to cruise the islands this summer. I'm looking ahead to next winter and trying to find information on awesome liveaboard communities that I could plan on joining for my winter moorage.

When I first bought the my boat, the Rock 'n Row, it was moored in Swantown marina in Olympia. I moved it across the bay to West Bay marina. Both marinas seemed to have a great liveaboard community.

Does anyone know of any others? I'm open to the entire Puget Sound, and possibly BC.

Cheers!

I know Port Townsend has a good liveaboard community. I passed through there a few months ago (driving, not boating) and met several of them. Also a beautiful region to be in, right at the tip of the Olympic peninsula.

Re: Awesome Liveaboard Communities in the Puget Sound

The community depends on what you want. We have a whole chunk of down town Seattle communities, but they often have long waiting lists. ( but depends on boat length ). I'm paying for an empty slip so that I don't have to re-queue. I WISH I could sublet but they won't let me.

If you still want urban Everett can be good but is not my cup of tea.
Shilshole also has a good community but I have friends there. They have a habit of saying they are full, then ringing you back the next day.

Marina Listings

Is a good listing source. usual disclaimers...

Re: Awesome Liveaboard Communities in the Puget Sound

This is my first listing on this site. I am also looking to release my lines and heading North, hopefully Alaska for the summer. I liveaboard on the Columbia River at my own docks. No idea about finding wintering communities in the Islands or Puget Sound area. This is going to be enjoyable talking with others on this subject. I hope my boat is ready for this, I do know I am.
