There may be 20,000 boats in the bay area, but less then 10% get used on a annual bases and few of those even want to anchor or know how. There is ton's of space to anchor in Richardson bay. They could easily have another 100 boats anchored there. Though not near shore and not in the back shallow half.

Oddly it's done all the time, though not in California so much, though the Rv's do tend to move about more. But then I move my derelict boat around a bit too. That sailing thingy. You might want to try it sometime.

That's a statement you pulled out of your rear end. Further, it has absolutely nothing with illegal anchor-outs in Richardson Bay.

You could park 100 derelict campers on my street. That doesn't mean it's something that should be allowed.

Gosh.

I will let the intern do clinic at 5pm. (10 minutes)

This is far more interesting.

Yes, and it's every bit as illegal and uncool as anchoring out in Richardson Bay.

Perhaps not... but you will have to send us your address so we can direct them there. It will be interesting to see how you resolve the problem. Perhaps we can use your dispersal method as a model for the Bay...........

Such a gentleman. I swoon. Ah I did not quite pull that number out of my butt. I based that number on the number of boats in marina's that I've seen over the last 10 years Both here and in SW florida and the number that never move year after year.

Also the number of boats that come out on the weekend to anchor for an hour before heading back to dock. Seven years ago there were maybe 20 boats a weekend anchored off china camp. For the last few years that number has fallen to roughly five boats each weekend. Based on that observation, I think boating, ok anchoring, on the west coast anyway, is in decline.

Re: Are Liveaboards Unwanted? Disliked? All over Everywhere?

Doesn't it seem like that 90% of live aboard discussions become about 2 places.

From this I would say that the answer is NO everyplace is NOT out to get lives boards.

In fact it would seem that if it was so bad in those places people would leave so they could go somewhere to live "the simple life".

Exactly!

Why I avoid Richardson bay. Not because of the anchorouts. But it's a noisy place. Far nicer places elsewhere.

Just to be clear- I have no problem with liveaboards or anchor-outs, as long as they play be the rules that the rest of us agree to play by. Don't like the rules? Tough noogies. Get 'em changed if that's the case.

Re: Are Liveaboards Unwanted? Disliked? All over Everywhere?

So OK, lets say tomorrow all the boats in Richardson bay are removed. What happens to the folks living there. They end up on the street or in jail. That oddly costs far more in tax dollars, then the pittance spent policing the bay.

Mind you some of the boats there do need to be hauled away. But a lot of the folks there are just people, who are just barely hanging on. Yes there is some crime and drugs. But more of the folks there are just people getting by. Last time I checked there were a many single women out there too.

Where do they go?
