We dont owe anyone ANYTHING. We as individuals offer from our hearts and compassion as we see fit. A lot of people do not and they dont feel the responsibility towards others, and as such, the world is what it is.

I dont like the attitude displayed by wrong. I told him. We disagreed. Thats fine. But if the man is needing some aid, most of us if we were in the area would extend a helping hand despite his antagonism, unless he ran us off. I can only offer advice in a specialist field or a second opinion or perhaps something else as I am not resident in the States any more. I dont know what he needs. No one does and I dont like to ask, I can only offer.

So, I wont treat him as anything else that the man he presents himself as. Invalidating other liveaboards and cruisers is not the way to go.

If wrong needs medical advice, PM me or PM a moderator of choice. We have a number of medics on the site. It will be in confidence and not contingent on being a good boy. It what we do for people despite our differences. No one will ever know.

C.F. is not to be taken seriously when it comes to opinions. We are all ARSES! Being sick is serious. That is beyond serious.

Im not being nice or benevolent. If I can offer some help or suggestions, I will do it because its a blow to have detrimental health news, and true to my new label of braggart, Im actually quite good at my job, if I say so myself.
Weavis,

I didn't really think your offer was insincere. i apologize if what I wrote offended you. I should have written a paragraph about how difficult it sometimes is to know if a poster is being truthful in a post. Any of us can write just about anything, and there's the rub.

I have no way of evaluating a poster's posts for truth, unless links to data are posted. And I have no way of really evaluating someone's mental state, either. ....And you're right, "sick kitty or dog" was over dramatic. I apologize, to you and to Wrong, as it may have offended. It was exaggeration to make a point.

The main reason I stayed out of this thread for so long was because I found the acrimony toxic.

I estimate my intervention to have been a failure. Oh, well, not the first time, eh?

And, back to liveaboards. Some people admire them. Some, appreciate their usefulness (as theft preventers, and people who look after others' boats as well as their own). Some people think we're "getting away with something", and are envious. All sorts in the world.

Ann

Not offended in the least. Always glad to hear your comments.

Lots of bigger issues out there. Hope Greece does what is best for its people.

Greece is one of the most beautiful cruising places in the world. Liveaboards are welcome there.

Ann

Blessed be the peace makers....

I am well versed in the masculine urge to perish in battle or at least in action. Bull riding, rock climbing, bungee jumps. Pick ur poison. It helps explain the death defying actions of young men (and women too to a lesser extent) the world over.

Being denied that right by age and illness is a crushing blow. Somewhere down deep we all long to die by the hands of a jealous young husband.

Your apology is accepted. Whenever someone is critical of another without linking directly to the statement(s) alleged to be justification for the criticism, it's impossible to respond in a meaningful way. Yours and weavis posts contain these types of remarks. And in spite of this defect, weavis personal criticisms of me remain. And your right, sincere or not how can I respond in any way to his offer after being so roundly criticised by him. In any case, I am in good hands at the V.A. hospital.

Ann as always demonstrates wisdom and compassion that sets an example for us all. Thank you Ann.

And to Wrong, I am sorry your health issues are stopping you from cruising and I hope you receive the best medical care possible.

And you do make a very good point. In fact, your point is just the reason it's been difficult for us to express the normal concern and condolences over your health. You don't let up on the other issues, the rude condemnations of those who don't share your views. I don't know you, but your posts are so vitriolic that it makes it difficult to offer our concern and condolences over your health issues.

I don't know if any of this is anger over your present situation, nor do I know if your posts are just words and rhetoric or if they're really the deep feelings that are tearing at you. I do know the impact strong negative feelings, whether justified or not, can have upon our health.

So that said, I'd like to express my condolences over your double whammy as you refer to it. As we age, we lose our abilities through health issues to do some of the things we enjoy most and between the physical illness itself and that emotional pain we feel, all illnesses become somewhat a double whammy. I hope you're able to concentrate your effort and passion on your own health which is far more important at this point of your life than outside issues such as who is saying what about whom or what issue on some boating forum or who likes whom or anchors where. I'd encourage you to cast aside those thoughts that take you away from putting your emotional energy where it's really needed most.

Obviously, I have no idea as to the severity of your illnesses and understand if you don't want to discuss that publicly, but you did insert it here. If you want to open up more about it, I'd suggest another thread on the topic of "when our health takes us off the water." It's certainly one of those days we know is in our future one day. We can think about it today and how we'll cope but the reality is we have no idea until it happens to us.

I do feel bad for whatever has befallen you. At the same time, I can't help but remind you that any person here you're treating rudely may also be suffering from challenges you don't know about. They may be physical or mental. I'd ask that you find more compassion and tolerance for others through understanding they might be going through things not dissimilar to what you're facing. But I also ask that you let us see the real you. I know that there is more to you than the one fighting and arguing and showing ugliness in their posts. Unfortunately, you're not letting us see or know that person. You might just find that the persons you disagree with on every issue known to mankind could be those who make the best friends in times of need if you give them a chance.

Whatever your choices, I do sincerely wish you the best as you struggle with all you face.

Im glad that your health issues are being taken care of. That is one less worry.

I would like to apologise to you for my criticisms, only I find that I cannot. I stand by the words as being accurate in reflection of the environment that was created by your stance, by the people you pissed off and by the atmosphere left behind.

Most of the people on here are decent and nice. We argue sometimes and get on each others nerves, but there is still respect and a joining together later when the ARSEness leaves us. We offer you that comradeship and affinity but only when you let go of invalidating others to elevate yourself. It has not worked for you has it?

Apologise to SailorChic34 as a start, stop thinking people are criticising you personally instead of your displayed attitude, and we can all move on happily and willingly forget the bad feelings.

This is your part of the deal. We have done everything else.

Weavis, I've always liked your posts, and really appreciated you posting your "autobiographical" post, but this last one is a keeper.

Can I get your permission to use it for my signature line?

Weavis, the comments about being dead ... er ... is that something you heard in med school or is that from personal experience?

I'm pretty old with no friends ... if I'm dead, please advise (Medicare only). If so, don't bother billing.

Emily D: I could not stop for death, so he kindly stopped for me ...

I can confirm that you are not dead. (No charge).

But, I would send you for a second opinion, Ive been wrong before. (No charge)

One of my favourite Poems.

Because I could not stop for Death -
He kindly stopped for me -
The Carriage held but just Ourselves -
And Immortality.
We slowly drove - He knew no haste
And I had put away
My labor and my leisure too,
For His Civility -
We passed the School, where Children strove
At Recess - in the Ring -
We passed the Fields of Gazing Grain -
We passed the Setting Sun -
Or rather - He passed Us -
The Dews drew quivering and Chill -
For only Gossamer, my Gown -
My Tippet - only Tulle -
We paused before a House that seemed
A Swelling of the Ground -
The Roof was scarcely visible -
The Cornice - in the Ground -
Since then - 'tis Centuries - and yet
Feels shorter than the Day
I first surmised the Horses' Heads
Were toward Eternity -

Both of you illustrate a fundamental problem here, starting with weavis' post #647. You volunteer condemnatory comments directed at me without linking to posts I've made in this forum that support your assertions.

Nor can you.
