Anyone live aboard a sailboat and motor everywhere?

I’ve seen one, and I’ll try not to offend any owners, but I wasn’t impressed.
In fact a gentleman had one next to me in Stewart, was having Mack Sails put a mast and rig on it. He got it in a bank foreclosure and I think got it for a song. There is a pure power boat version as well, but having a sailboat hull, it rolled its guts out according to him, he wanted the sails as steadying sails.
No I think a trawler manufacturer with a couple of decades of manufacturing trawlers would be a better boat.

We have been through this, none do that I can afford, or better said, people have circumnavigated bathtubs, I’m not.
A Big Nordhaven etc is more than I want to pay, it would put most of my assets in a boat, and I’m not willing to do that, besides the operating expenses would eat me alive.
It would be a White elephant.

Why do people think they can safely cross oceans on small, relatively cheap yachts but mention doing it on a powered vessel and they instantly need multi million dollar nordhavns?

I'm sure something like this would be more than capable.

Yeah if you can afford the diesel and motor maintenance. And I wouldn't want to head out across any big pond with a single engine.

My Ex: I loved this little boat. Shipping was just too high to send her back to the PNW though.

One he linked to was twin engine I think.
Nice boat, but I spent three years getting mine just the way I want it, and spent likely about what she cost, so I’m keeping her for awhile.
We just went through a Family emergency and it looked like our Son would be cruising with us, and Wife said we need a bigger boat.
Now most I guess would have grinned and said I think we can find one, I was in a panic cause no way do I want to go through all that work again.

He is doing much better, so I don’t think he will have to come with us now.

So glad to hear he is doing so much better, A64.

You're right, it's a colossal effort to get your boat the way you want it.

Depends on your plans. Mine are to sail. I find playing with a fickle wind or 35knots of trade winds equally rewarding.
Exit and enter the pen under power, set and pick up the anchor with the motor running.
Then turn the smelly noisy thing off.

Too bad, she would have fit right in.

Sorry to hear your son went through an emergency situation. Hope he will fully recover. Youth helps with most problems.

He was run over on his bicycle by a hit and run driver 17 Feb and suffered a traumatic brain injury. He got progressively worse until at two weeks I thought we may lose him. He was losing control over his autonomic nervous system, heart rate, temp regulation etc.
But now he is 1000% better, he had to relearn to walk etc,
However his intelligence is the same as before they injury, except he has almost no short term memory.
He is a lot like his old man in that regard, neither ones of us can remember anything.
He will be OK, yes it’s mostly due to age, but a lot cause he refused to give up.

Very sorry to hear of his injury. My wife suffered a brain injury but has pretty much recovered 100% proving to me that the brains ability to heal can be amazing. We all certainly wish him a speedy recovery.
