There are about a thousand miles of coast for Florida. Are you looking for a slip in a specific area? I know that there are some slips available with that beam in the NE Florida area on the Saint Johns River. I also have some other thoughts of beamy slips in SE Florida if you can clear a 55' fixed bridge.

In what area of Florida is your interest and what is affordable mean? I'm currently most familiar with slips ranging from about 10 to 12 dollars/foot/month.

Doug45, is right, but it's all about location and the local market. The prices around Miami and Fort Lauderdale are much more than near Jacksonville and Green Cove Springs. The costs for slips along the Gulf west of Florida are often less. The same is true to the north. Slips in the Virginia Chesapeake area are about a third of the cost on the Connecticut coast.

Re: Affordable slip for 20ft beam catamaran in fl

It's been quite a while since I've seen $4.50/foot/month and that is the cost you're looking for. Back in 1974 I was paying $2/foot/month in Florida and I was upset because the year before I was paying $1.60/foot/month.

I wish you luck with your search, but I just don't see those prices these years.

Because you're essentially taking up two slips instead of one due to your wider beam.

Sure. But just because you can, don't mean it's a good idea.

I'm having a hard time believing you didn't research such costs before jumping into a 35' cat... average cost for a single wide slip in these parts is $12.50/ft. Double the width? Double the price man.

Well if that's the case, have you searched for moorings? They're quite a bit cheaper than a marina slip. I'd not leave a boat anchored around here unattended for long. Thieves would make off with everything but the hull in short order.

Stay away from New England where anything under $20/foot/month is a bargain.

I've been from Texas to Bahamas and back, and never paid more for a cat than a monohull. It's just that in some marinas, we end up on T-head.

Re: Affordable slip for 20ft beam catamaran in fl

Sailjumanji's experience is the same as mine. I have a cat and have never paid more than the mono rate. If they don't have a couple of wide slips on hand, which many do, they give me a T head or a wall face.

On the other hand, here on the Florida Gulf I've never seen less than $10/ft/month, even on a one year lease.

You might have luck privately paying a homeowner to use their dock at a canal home or something...
