TJ, for which country are you asking? USA? We have participants from various countries on this Board and the answer is highly dependent on where most of your mail will be coming from.

If USA, you'll find multiple threads discussing this at the SSCA BB - http://ssca.org/sscabb/index.php - which are worth reading. This seems to be one of those areas where we cruising sailors are in luck, as multiple vendors apparently provide excellent service. If you're looking for a personal referral, I'd encourage you to consider St. Brendan's Isle - http://www.boatmail.net/index.html We began using them after watching a VHF Net in Trinidad unfold on this topic and finding the majority of boats were using them and there wasn't a single negative comment. They have been superb...and their owners are really nice folks. But of course this is only relevant if it's a USA-based service you are looking for.

I'll add my endorsement of St. Brendan's Isle to Jack's.
They, or any other competent service, will be much preferred over using “friends and/or family”.

Oooops Euro Cruiser, your right, I guess I was being Nationcentric (is that the term?) I'm currently in the USA, but not for much longer. Anyway, there's good information here and I appreciate it. My thanks to all.

Regards,

TJ
