Usa routes from barbados

We are in Barbados and were thinking of going to the north (Florida Or Icw) to avoid the harrican season. But we are not sure If we have enough time to get there safely. We may need to find out the time frame.

When is the best time to be in usa.
Any routes suggestion to the ICW from Carribean
Any recommended crusing guide book for usa
If no good to the north, any routes suggestion to the south.

Thanks for help in advance.

You've got plenty of time to make the US east coast. You can beam reach and downwind sail the whole way. Up the windwards and leewards. Across and up to the Bahamas. Then you'll need to decide where you want to make your stop into the US. Palm Beach, Fl, Jacksonville, FL, Charleston SC, Beaufort,NC, the Chespeake are all good places to jump to. Showing up in May is a good time. Then you can.work your way up the ICW.

Have you looked at the hurricane season dates? The simple answer to your question is Yes it is a problem.

The Waterway guides are good for the ICW along with ActiveCaptain online.

Wow. I'm just about at a loss to respond to this. You are very nearly at the extreme southern end of the region affected by hurricanes. You want to sail right through the middle of the hurricane region, in the middle of the hurricane season. Your destination is a place that gets at least as many hurricanes as where you are right now. You plan to do all this in order to avoid hurricanes. SERIOUSLY!?!

Go to wikipedia and read a little bit about hurricanes, the region where they are most prevalent, and the season for them. You need to begin with a very basic introduction to hurricanes. Your plan -- at least as you have presented it so far -- is AWFUL!!!

I really don't intend to offend, but you need to understand WAAAAAY more about hurricanes before you even begin to think about a plan for avoiding them. Good luck, whatever you do.
