Under a Year Until We Go Cruising

We are just starting to get really excited. We just past the one year before we go mark. There is still a lot to do. But man this is an exciting feeling.


Just wanted to share it with those who have been there and those still planning.

I am so very excited for you. We are at about the 20 month mark ourselves and we are already coming out of our skin. I have a countdown calender on my computer desktop at work and that's the first thing I look at every morning, 624 days now.

Congratulations to you and I hope that it is everything you have ever dreamed of. Maybe our paths will cross out there someday.

I hate you guys, I'm still three yrs out, but am considering selling the house soon as I can see how that could take some time and really throw a wrench in the plan if it doesn't sell for a while.

What a great time for you! Seems like yesterday when we were there. We have been out now for 10 months and loving every minute of it. Well not quite loving the inevitable problems and repairs ( windlass, head, oil pressure, Nav lights, etc.) but it's all good and all part of the adventure. We've seen amazing sights and met interesting people. You will love it too.

We are 41 days, till we head out. I can well undestand your excitement, it's tougher and tougher to get up for work and it's getting cold here. 4 Deg C this morning.

When you go you will have a wonderful time.... but just remember "cruising is fixing things in exotic places" ... "you have to be able to fix it yourself" and also you will have to learn about weather which will become an obsession.

We are on the 3 year count down. We sold the house and bought the boat. Now we are making her cruiser ready and building up the cruising kitty. We plan to go out for about 5 years and take our time. It's a dream I've had for about 40 years
and I hope it's at least half as good as what I imagined!

Same here. Ball started rolling in July with no specific fixed date for departure, just anytime from next July. Boat is basically good to go short a month or two in a DIY boat yard. Currently fixing up the house for sale and clearing up all those loose ends. In fact got some fibreglassing practice in today repairing the 20 foot crack in the floor of the pool.

Just over six months for us till we head north and perhaps circumnavigate Australia. Still lots to do though to get Catlypso to the standard we want it.

I remember the six month time frame... geeze it went quick and we still hadnt done everything we wanted, oh well... there is always somewhere to do things along the way!! dont wait, just GO!
