Toronto to Halifax

I'd like to sail (C&C34) Toronto to Halifax this summer and am looking for route advice (mainly good anchorages or preferred marinas, and watchouts, warnings, etc.) along the route.

I'm thinking it will take about 5 weeks, and I'll do it in 3-4 stages.


the route I'm thinking is down the St Lawrence (no Rideau canal). Simple. Tides downriver from Quebec can be tricky & I'll need tide tables.


I'll have crew for the Quebec City to Halifax leg, and possible Montreal to Quebec City as well. Do I really need crew (yes preferred, but required?).


do I need paper charts?
The Guides to Navigation look useful - what do you think?

Subbed, my usual cruising been flying to Florida and meeting the boat there, but now I'm considering taking a 50 to 60 foot cat down the St Lawrence Seaway, Toronto to Quebec, then out to N.S. the perhaps either hug the coast or make a course for Bermuda.

Most of my experience is Bahamas onwards, sorry I can't contribute much.

To your credit, the Seaway does look like a viable route as far ad I can see.
