It's probably more like 50 years in the past. That was before the landscape nearly everywhere was blighted by fast-food signage.

And we wouldn't have rats in the US if it wasn't for those damn Europeans and their sailboats!

I don't know the Latin phrase for beating a dead horse, but I do know reductio ad absurdum, which seems to apply here.

It certainly seems an apt phrase to describe 15 pages of posts discussing someone else's life.

Well, I am sure they've lost favor with the multihull crowd with statements like this on their blog: But one thing a massive full keel like this does do is instill in you a sense that this is a real cruising boat, not some little plastic toy like our catamaran.

Sorry to drag you back into this Sneuman. Seems it's not OK with some for us to express our opinion on this forum. The funny thing is I'm sure Pat couldn't care less what anyones opinion is, but these people can't let it go...

Re: The Bum(fuzzle)s Are Moving Afloat Again !

I see them as new media types where the Pardeys and Roths are old media. The blog is the new book of sailing adventures, and equally hard to make any money from. I still have my copies of Tristan Jones works, some sold to me by him at book signings (its how he ketp the boats afloat) but now read several sailing blogs as well sailing books. Do people think Slocum knew what he was getting into all the time? But he is everyones hero.

I don’t see anything wrong with either approach, write a book or publish a blog if you make a few dollars and keep sailing good on you.

Interesting view point, coming from someone who has posted in this thread 18 times... what was that about "can't let go?"

Seems as if you have expressed your opinion pretty freely here.

This thread is nasty and mean spirited for the most part and we would love to just lock it and move on, but don't because we know that many of you just cannot resist the opportunity to grizzle and grandstand here. If we close this one another one will open. Like rodents, they rarely come solo...

Finally, while you couldn't prove it by this thread, in GENERAL;

Anyone may say almost anything they wish to here at CF so long as it is said with respect and thoughtfulness. It is incredibly rare for an opinion to be deleted because of the actual content. It is almost always because the post was made with inappropriate language or in a rude and thoughtless manner.

If anyone finds themselves being moderated on a regular basis they might start self monitoring their language and word choice so we don't have to.

We now return to your regularly scheduled bitching and moaning.

Re: The Bum(fuzzle)s Are Moving Afloat Again !

I really liked the first part many years ago when they were doing their circumnavigation. Now that it's a baby story, not so much in fact I don't even read it anymore. I don't agree with some of the things they say or do but then I don't agree with alot of things anyway. I'm just old and ornery. I'm so old my old lady and I just have oral sex now. We just yell F**k You at each other. Now play nice. BOB

*They are probably the most well rounded world sailors on the high seas currently! They've sailed Multi-hulls and mono's... They clean up baby turds and puke while fixing shaft couplings... Have children in far away countries. Drive Porsche's and old VW Bus's with NO AC through distant countries. Plus they put up with Geriatric sailors and cruisers that say they're doing it WRONG. That is quite a f%(king feat!

*certain parts of this post are sarcastic

That's ok, sarcasm and irony are both allowed, providing they come in the prescribed polite and thoughtful format ; -)

The tone deaf simply don't hear the notes, or reproduce them, the way that most people do.

Ok...Here's how the thread started out...now it is so sideways, I'm afraid I've lost interest. I will admit I got sucked into the back and for B.S. I apologize. I remember a professor in school telling us..."Do you want to be right or do you want to be happy" Have fun everyone...I'm outta here.
