ST Maarten - via Bermuda - Azoren - Holland

In June we are planning to cross the Atlantic from St Maarten.
We will stop on Bermuda and The Azores, north Spain.

Does anybody have a good Advice between St Maarten and Bermuda what to see?
Nature and scubadiving are points of interests...

Cheers
George

If your leaving St Martin in June you'll likely be to busy as your following the hurricane track up to Bermuda...
from Bermuda to about 50 miles from Flores the only thing you'll see is the odd turtle.. then the whales start appearing..
However... if you go direct to the Azores you'll be crossing a lot of migratory tracks... I saw Orca, several species of dolphin, pilot whales and what looked like a sperm whale and a big black young bull of unknown type... turtles, flying fish and a variety of ocean birdlife...
And you miss the storms...

Leave SXM pointing for Bermuda, As soon as the wind allows, turn right and head for Azores. Spend the time you saved exploring the Azores. Do not waste time in June, Get your ass Outta Hurricane alley. Out last W-E we burnt 800 litres of fuel running away from Joyce, and she parked of Bermuda for a few days before spinning off to the NE. We left too late, 23 June, stupid....

My 1st crossing.. mentioned below.. I left on the 14th June, the winds were predominantly SE and by the time I'd cleared the Stream I was 600 miles
SE of Bermuda.. worst weather was a few line squalls which gusted up to around F7...
The boats that had left a couple of weeks earlier all reported being beat up and some suffered damage....
If your determined to do Bermuda go end of April/early May...

how did I planned it :-) Our flight is on 5th of June to St. Martin. At least what we want is to go further north from St Maarten to enjoy the Caribbean. It's a pity that it seems like we can't see Turk and Caicos and Bermuda.. :-(

Aldo it sounds kind of cool: "we've been in Hurricane Alley to meet 'twissting Joe' he was very angry but we could handle him" does'nt it?

On the other hand if we could sign up for all the beautifull wildlife mensioned by Boatsman, that's what we did ...

All those choices....
Thank you all for the valuable information!!

do you have your own yacht,or are you hitch-hiking rides?
if you are looking for rides, june is going to be very late to find a boat going back to europe.
as others have said april is the time most vessels leave for usa or europe.

We charter a yacht for that regatta and after that we'r heading for South America also a month. That month is not much for a cross over but we did it before, the average is 180 nm per day. Any thoughts on sightseeing?

Hey guys, I checkt on the web, last year the first tropical storm (30-40 kn) was in the end of June.... So how bad can it be in the beginning. On the 15th we are half way to the Azores... Is it really so dangerous?
