Seasmoke to Q'atar ?

We may be doing a delivery of Seasmoke to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia and then trucking the boat across to Doha, Qatar. Just looking at routing and logistics at the moment. Trying to decide whether the added expense of trucking her from Bellingham, WA to Newport, RI is worth the time saved.

Re: Seasmoke to Qatar?

Putting her on a truck will surely save time & money, but what about hurricane season coming up? Is the boat ready to go? A truck is what? About $6-7K to get to the east coast. I am sure a delivery boat the whole way would be a small fortune, but what about to cross the Atlantic only? BEST WISHES which ever way you go...........i2f

Re: Seasmoke to Qatar?

No, the boat won't be done until this Winter or early next Spring. I would do the delivery. We might just get her to Africa and truck her the rest of the way. It's early in this venture.

Re: Seasmoke to Qatar?

I guess the question is. Will you make more money working the shop, or delivering the boat. Unless you just want to do the delivery. Then it's just about going for a good sail..........i2f

Re: Seasmoke to Qatar?

That's a good question. I do need a break and a long sail though. Hopefully, I'll have the boys up to speed and enough work for them to take the sail...

Charlie, let me know if you need crew on a trans-Atlantic. I'm looking to get my sea hours past 2,000 NM.
