Sarasota Trip

Planning on chartering a GB42 for four days. The wife would like to do shelling near Sanibel, so thouight we would travel the ICW south and run back to Sarasota on day four on the outside north. Any suggestions for overnights and good food/drink places.

Not a lot of shells on Sanibel anymore! there's an island out near Tampa Bay, Egmont or something, that i hear still has a lot.

Don't know why Sanibel doesn't anymore. Too many people maybe?

Look at the following web site.

http://flseagrant.ifas.ufl.edu/ancho..._inventory.php

I can't think fo the name of the island but it is on the South end of Boca Grande and the place to anchor is Pelican Bay. YOu will need a dink to get to shore and then either walk or catch a tram to the Gulf side of the island. Really nice shelling.

Also look at a thread started by ex-ranger on a trip down the West coast of Florida.
