Sailing Puget Sound anyone?

We will be out sailing on the weekends this spring/summer/fall in Puget Sound area and would like to meet up with other Sailors that would like to do the same. Maybe we can schedule some extended cruises also.

Anyone interested?

Rob

Re: Sailing Puget Sound anyone?

We're game. Because we are new, relatively inexperienced owners of 43 ft cutter, we are restricted by our insurance to having a licensed captain aboard. The captain we have helping us now works weekends so is not available.

Maybe there is a captain reading this who would like to ride with us or maybe another boat could use us as crew.

Wow- good leads! First of all we are going up for our annual tour of deslolation sound and Northern BC this August/September. Anyone is welcome to come.
Mycroft- I have the best sea going captain I have ever associated with getting "time off" from his big boat in the Caribbean to come and go up with us. He is an excellent sailor and lives aboard next to my slip. I wonder if he would be interested?

Thanks Newt, we will definitely hook up with you. That is about the time we would like to take a cruise around Vancouver Island.

Would love to get some nuggets of advice from your Captain friend!
I will PM you my Cell and email

Sailing Puget Sound anyone?

We are leaving Seattle headed up to Vancouver Island, inside passage and possibly circumnavigate Vancouver Island. Would welcome company. We're gone for one month in August and welcome others.

Would we be in the way? We sail up there every year but have never made it around the island, are you doing that?

We are staying on the inside. Will be in Friday Harbor about the 14th to Decrew/add crew, then moving slowly up to desolation sound. Will anyone be around?

Re: Sailing Puget Sound anyone?

We circumnavigated in 5 weeks... seemed like a bit of a push time wise but not too bad. Heck I could spend 3 weeks in the Barkeley Sound area. Barkeley is easy, alot of protected spots and not near as many people as Desolation.
We didn't even go into Nootka Sound and it is a great/huge place too (been there by fishing boat)

Re: Sailing Puget Sound anyone?

I'm super jealous. We're staying close to Vancouver for August, but might be able to sneak away for a week to do a September trip up to Princess Louisa inlet. I would highly recommend heading in there if you have the time. It is supposed to be magical.

I have pretty good knowledge of Vancouver, Howe Sound, and Gulf Islands and one trip each to Desolation and up Johnstone Straight, so let me know if I can help in the local knowledge department.

Had an amazing month in Gulf Islands and incredible Desolation Sound - loved the warm water, swimming and the incredible solace, quiet. Squirrel's Cove has a wonderful restaurant "The Cove".Click image for larger version

We went up to the Broughton's this year. Horrible trip. Suggest everyone stay south of Seymour Narrows....

Re: Sailing Puget Sound anyone?

Evidenced above, the real sailing is outside Puget Sound and is its sister in the north, Canada waterways. I've sailed in Wa State for over 20 years, Lake Washington and amazing Puget Sound. Beautiful. But doesn't begin to compare to Canadian waters, Gulf Islands, Desolation Sound, unbelievable sailing and solace for us this past summer. We fell in love all over again. Here's a couple more photos. Click image for larger version

Cwyckham, just looked at photos of Prince Louisa, amazing ! Stunning! Would love to see your shots. The waterfall looks so special. Is the water ok to swim so far up? Lucky you.

Newt, The Broughtons look like a serious journey, and beautiful. Did you travel north from Campbell River area?
