PR to Chesapeake

I am going down to Puerto Rico, East Coast, to bring a IP350 to the Chesapeake Bay, VA. Your opinions on the prefered route would be appreciated. Leaving April 18th, 2011.

The normal route is west along the north coast of PR and the DR and either continue up the Old Bahamas Channel to south Florida or cut through the Bahamas by turning NE from below West Caicos and heading for Mayaguana. Then either island hop up through the Bahamas to the Abacos. From there you can join the Gulf Stream and ride it to the Carolinas and finally into the Chesapeake.
- - It is all a matter of how much time you have and your interest in seeing exploring the Bahamas. Most delivery crews I know take the Old Bahamas Channel route and stop in Miami/Ft Lauderdale for a break and re-supply before continuing north.
