NYC to Key Largo in November...

We've been working on the boat all summer and should be ready to go the first week of November. We will be there for a few weeks then head on down to Belize to have her painted.

Will you be doing the bottoms? Where in Belize will you be having your boat painted? I am not familiar with any boat yards there.

Yea we're painting the whole boat. Not sure where at though my friend has talked to a yard out there. I think around Ambergris Caye.

Wish I was going with you Jeffe. I live out in Huntington Long Island just around the corner from you. I'm surprised your not stopping at Key West for the regatta in January...

So we were going to leave this week, but it seems there's a storm brewing in the Atlantic......

Just try to get south to the Carolinas as quick as possible to avoid ice, snow and just downright uncomfortable possible weather. After that you can leisurely work you way south.
- - Last time I did it was in October and I went from Red Hook nonstop to Cape May and anchored inside the Delaware. Then up to the C&D canal and through to the Chesapeake and anchored in the little bay just before exiting the C & D. Then down to Baltimore. Then down to one of the stops halfway to Norfolk and then Norfolk (actually I like Hampton better).
- - The ICW is protected all the way to the Carolinas but it takes time with all the bridge openings. From Norfolk south you are out of most potential nasty weather problems and can keep trucking down the ICW or duck outside into the Atlantic if the weather permits.

Yeah here in the upper Chesapeake its sort of nasty atm.

Synopsis For The Tidal Potomac And Md Portion Of The Chesapeake Bay
A coastal low will move slowly in vicinity of Cape Hatteras through Friday before moving away from the eastern Seaboard late Saturday. Weak high pressure will build into the area Sunday into early next week. Small Craft Advisory conditions are expected to continue through Saturday...particularly for the Chesapeake Bay.
Small Craft Advisory in effect through late Friday night

Tonight
NE winds 20 kt with gusts to 30 kt. Waves 3 ft. Rain. Vsby 1 to 3 nm. Tides one foot above normal.
Fri:
N winds 20 kt with gusts to 30 kt. Waves 3 ft. Rain.
Fri Night
NE winds 15 to 20 kt with gusts to 30 kt. Waves 2 to 3 ft. Rain likely.

Of coarse I have a 24' boat. But there are some guys here using the Marina as a base for there work out in the Bay and they are sitting right at the dock. One guy told me it was like 5' short waves with alot of 6 plus out there now. He is a Merchant Marine 51 years old and said it was nasty.

A pic from the other day while I was at Cape May
