Re: Needing advise on safe marinas in Belize

I've just returned from Placencia and would 'second the motion' regarding Roberts Grove. Also, you might contact Thunderbird Marine to see if they have a transient area you could use/rent for a day or two...the same with Splash Dive Shop. As always, consult your charts for approaches, depth, etc.
Biking 4 miles to town from the Moorings rental marina was easy and scenic (past the airport...kind of like a big driveway...); however DON'T BIKE AT NIGHT...drivers don't pay attention & regardless of speed-bumps, they are heavy on the accelerator. Lots of restaurants (lion-fish ceviche at Rumfish, 'original creole' at Omar's, upscale at Roberts Grove and Laru Beya, etc.), several grocery/general-stores & a pharmacia.
The diving is wonderful at many small atolls offshore several miles: Glovers Reef, Silk Caye, etc. - warm water & 40-70' visibility - HAVE FUN!!

Mmmm, yeah, another reason to choose a Placencia marina over Cucumber Beach...FOOD!

Haven't been there in a while, but Roberts Grove used to do a big Saturday night BBQ by the pool that was good. Their lagoon side Resturant (Habaneros) was convenient to the marina and did regular specials.

Rum Fish is always excellent.

Yoli's Sunday BBQ is awesome.

Tranquilos over on Placencia Caye is back open

Mr. Omar is not only a great guy, but churns out some awesome Creole Grub (He occassionally ran the galley for me on charters).

Turtle Inn if you want to go upscale.

...

Damn, now I'm hungry!

Yeah, a great pizza, salad, some beer and wine at Rick's on the sidewalk, gelato on the way back to the boat. That is the life.
