OK....Leave Laouderdale around 10-12 at night and point for the Memory Rock waypoint. The Stream will help you and you will arrive at the waypoint in daylight and have 9' + entry depths onto the banks as you point towards the Great Sale Cay Waypoint...you should never see less than 7' (around Mangrove Cay) and should arrive in Great Sale in mid afternoon where after 18 hours you can drop the hook and get some rest.
Next moring head out EARLY out of Great Sale around the West and North side of the Cay on your way to Green Turtle. Assuming you make good time...you can anchor off the town of NewPlymouth and take the dinghy in to check into customs which is located at the post office. Very friendly...no issues. (If you don't make good time you can check in at Spanish Cay Marina or simply anchor off Manjack Cay and head into Green turtle the next day. )

You will probably want to anchor in White Sound for the evening but the channel in will require at least 1/2 tide in your boat. If the timing is wrong...you can head back to the southern end of ManJack cay for the night and drop the hook near the house on shore and enjoy their wifi connection. In very settled weather you can simply stay anchored off of New Plymouth.

Have fun...great place!

Thanks

Thanks, this was about what we had planned !. By the way, we draw less than 6 feet (shoal draft version) but use 6 feet as our draft to be sure.

We're headin over memorial weekend for 2 or 3 weeks, we'll prolly spend a couple days in GT. We're leaving from lake worth or I may just sail south out of fort pierce and then turn east and go to memory rock depending on the wind (we usually leave out of lw) we usually go in july but schedule botched us up so we moved it up Hoping to do a thanksgiving trip too if weather allows it.

Man, 23 MPH wind out of the WEST, I could be doin 12 knots in this, be in the bahamas in no time and be 50 gallons of diesel richer.

You watch two weeks from now it will be an east wind LOL

Hmm, I quit doing the night crossing 8 years ago, but I always use Bimini as the first stop.
If I arrive after dark, anchor of the beach and have a beer and good dinner, then check in with customs/immigration next morning at slack tide.
No drama, no loss of sleep, works good last a long time..

We're 3.5 days behind you and it looks like the wind may change before we can make good use of it, but we shall see. I'm still holding out. Pretty much anything south based and we're heading strait from Fort Pierce Inlet and either going around walkers or in at mantanilla shoal. We'll see, the chart I have in front of me has route A, B, C and D LOL so I don't know the precise plan. The wife wants to spend a little more time a Guana then i had originally budgeted so that may come out of gt time.

Anyhow, we'll keep an eye out at Green Turtle, we may only be there a day or two

Made it to Green Turtle

Well, we are here. Left Monday at dawn and motor sailed for 3 hours before the wind picked up. By the time we got to memory rock we were scooting along at 8 knots on a beam reach. Very nice sail. Made it to Mangrove Cay before sunset and anchored for the night. Tuesday we tried to get in to the anchorage at Alans Pensacola, but the swell and low tide scared us off so we continued and spent the night anchored near Crab Cay and Angel Point. Only one other boat nearby. This morning we had another sled run and got into Green Turtle at 12.30 while the tide was still up. Never saw less that 8 feet going in. We are staying at Bluff House marina tonite, Probably move to a mooring if we stay another night here. Then its off to ?? we dont know yet, but Guana Key for memorial weekend is possible.

See ya out there

Your trip sounds great! We hope to leave St. Simons Island, Ga on June 29 for three weeks to Abacos. Guess we will motorsail south to Ft. P or Lake W and then East to Bahamas.
