We will be cruising from Sarasota to Mobile Bay and are looking for information on crossing the Gulf v. the "Rim Route" around the big bend. We have a 5'4 draft. There will be two of us, we are comfortable doing a 24-36 hour overnight, but are in no particular hurry either. We are traveling mid June.

Came south from Destin to Tampa last month. Took 3 days, 2 nights, motoring all but about 3 hours. Was like being on a windless lake. We came from New Orleans to Pensacola offshore, so I don't really have much to say about getting to Mobile Bay. Bridges at Destin and between there and Pensacola though are a tight 48 feet clearance. If you wanted to go straight across from Sarasota, depending on wind, should be between a long 3 days and 5.

Currently at 27 28 07 N 80 19 40 W
