East Coast Mexican Port recomendations?

I have developed a friendship with a lady who lives in Mexico City. I am planning an extended Gulf and Caribbean cruise in the fall and was wondering if anyone knows where the most appropiate port would be, that would provide the shortest drive for her, and the easiest access for me.

I realize she may need to fly because of the distance, but I was hoping someone could steer me in the right direction.

Re: East Coast Mexican Port recomendations?

Cancun has the best air services in Eastern Mexico and the El Cid Marina in Puerto Morelos is excellent...outstanding security in a modern marina and I am paying $25/day for a 55 ft boat.

Riviera Maya Hotels- Mayan Riviera Cancún- Hotel Marina El Cid Spa & Beach Resort

The ADO bus service from Cancun airport to Puerto Morelos is $6 and runs every 30-60 mins.

Both areas you mention are highly active hurricane zones during the fall....

I would look at Veracruz. A real cool city and about 45 min flight from Mex City. It's also a safe city too as if you anchor or choose a slip they are located by all kinds of Mexican Navy facilities.
