I plan to spend a couple weeks in C.C. And was wondering which were the best and least parts of town to hang out.
If you live there or have lived there. I'd like some feed back. I see on google maps where the marinas are and down town. But I generally avoid downtowns.

Stats tell that the high population of Filipino's live in the Flour bluff area, true/false? My wife is Filipina.

Coming from a corpus Christi native, there is a lot of great things to do in corpus but definitely places to avoid. The area to the north of downtown near the port is called the "cut" and is basically the sketchiest part of town, DONT GO THERE. Everywhere else in corpus is fair game, you'll find down-to-earth people who love to be friendly. Flour bluff can be nice, but it is a 20-25 minute drive from the marina and corpus proper. If you want any restaurants or things to do in corpus please let me know. Cheers

The "cut", is that the industrial area north of/by I-37, or across the water?
I'm kind of looking at the Shoreline Blvd and Ocean Dr. areas to hang out.

And was thinking of going out to the Port Aransas for a day or so. What is the Ward Island area? I see a lot of parking lots from the google earth.

We are in Port Aransas, and we were in CC City Marina for 3+ years. Flour Bluff likely has such a large population, because NAS CC is right there, and many Navy folks have Filipina wives.

Downtown CC is actually very nice. Probably the nicest part of town. You CAN swim in the water. Port Aransas is "on the beach".

Another vote for down town CC. It's not really a "Big City" down town. I've walked all around there at night and never worried. The waterfront is pretty clean and people friendly. Also, Port A is (IMO) the best place in Texas! Do go, and see that you walk the waterfront and eat in some small "hole-in-the-wall" places. Also worth the ferry ride to St Joe's Island...we love walking the beach there!

Okay, no fooling around. You get back out to the yard and get busy on the Duck. Hanging out in Texas? Good grief...next you'll be preferring that Shiner Bock...ah well, at least send us some pix of good barbeque and TexMex. Have fun but don't get lost.

Got your feet back on the ground, I see. Yeah, I need to dry out a bit. The water runs off the ducks back real good now so it's the interior I'm attacking now. But it's been too cold the past week or so. The epoxy has trouble curing.

Got the PM. Port A is... very eclectic. We have found a handful of REALLY good places to eat. Everything from fantastic burgers, to the best meal I've eaten in quite a while (Roosevelts).

Draft really isn't a problem here, to a point. CC Bay has 13-15' pretty much everywhere except the spoil islands. We rarely bump. Several great anchorages just a couple of hours sailing away. We love Ingleside Cove. Google it, and you will see the huge yards around on either end building deep water drilling rigs. An enigma, really. But a clean, delightful anchorage.

BTW, you DO know that you are visiting during Spring Break, right? The island is nuts then.
