Wednesday night, 20 to 25 subsiding to 15 to 20 up to 20 miles offshore. You might want to wait a day to give the seas time to lay down a bit. Thursday they are 4 to 6 out to 20 miles and 6 to 8 farther out. And we all know the forecasts are always right on. Chuck

Actually, these might be more helpful..
Coastal/Great Lakes Forecasts by Zone - South - Charleston, SC
Coastal/Great Lakes Forecasts by Zone - South - Jacksonville, FL
since they give the forecasts for offshore to 20 miles and then 20 to 60 miles out. Chuck

Re: Charleston SC to Fernandina Beach/Jax on Thursday

The forecasted E winds late week look a little more relaxed. Too much wind forecasted in the offshore forecast. Any time I see 25 kts, I assume it could just as easily be thirty or more. No thanks- I've ducked into St Marys once before in a Nor'easter.

I highly recommend you anchor in the Cumberland Sound and check out the island if you haven't before. Good place to lay over, and St Marys and Fernandina are nearby for provisions.

Tuesday night looks bleak. If you aint gone yet, I'd sit tight.

Well thanks for the links but Im already aware of the forecast, of NOAA, gribs etc. Also wont be more than 20 miles out, take a look at the rhumb line. Im also well versed in what myself and my boat can do; 6-8 foot seas are not a problem. That being said, back to my original question, is anyone planning the same trip for this weather window?

When people post about a weather window, ostensibly looking for validation, or a buddy boat, it is easy to assume lack of experience, or that input on weather forecasting/passagemaking is welcome. That's how it reads (skims) but sounds like you have it all figured out and you're just wondering if anyone else is doing the same thing you are? Subject lines are easy to overlook, especially long ones where words like "...on Thursday" are cut off.

If your rhumb line is for Jax, you will be 25-30 miles out, and Waterway's point may be that the 20 nm delineation is not to be taken literally, nor the forecast itself. IF I understand it correctly, 4-5 people recently fired up their epirbs in 8' seas off the atlantic seaboard. You should have a sweet ride if the forecast holds for late week int othe weekend

Safe passage-
