Cape Lookout via Core Sound ???

Have any of you shallow draft boats ever taken the backway (via Core Sound) from Ocracoke to Cape Lookout NC? Any problems for a 3 ft. draft???

I looked into doing it in my Irwin 28 several years ago.. decided not the way to go.. those back sound channels are narrow and change a lot. It would be a fun exploratory trip to try if you had the time.
I do use the other inlets every chance I get.. hate the alligator river

I know the locals do it regularly but I myself haven't attempted it. I suppose you could follow someone for your first visit. The trip on the outside is very simple and a beutiful day trip
