Buddy Boat ? - Going to the Abacos

Departing mid to late May, weather dependent, from St. Lucie Inlet in Stuart to the Abacos. Plan on a straight crossing to White Sands, across the bank to either Mangrove, Great Sale or spend the night on the bank if possible. I can do 6 - 7 knots (CSY 44)... Any one else making the trip??

Hi Doug,
We possibly will be heading over in late May, most likely earlier.
What depth do you draw? We're 6' and have never attempted
using the St Lucie Inlet. Is St Lucie your home port?

SM,
Yes, these are my home waters. I draw 5"-3". I would like to go on the full moon about the 16th and get to Great Sale if possible. It looks like I may be doing it solo so I'd prefer to have a companion boat or two. The inlet is easy enough if the weather is working for you.

Doug -
Your news of St L Inlet is encouraging.
With six feet we're accustomed to using tide/timing to advantage.
Let's keep in touch and see how schedules mesh.
Fair warm winds,
SM

SM,
Sounds good, I'll keep in touch as we get closer to May.

It may be a long-shot for me, but if you keep updating this thread, we'll see who's ready and who's not.

Re: Buddy Boat ? - Going to the Abacos

My plans have changed a bit. Instead of leaving in May, I'll be going in early June after the 7th. I am staying in town so I can be home for my daughters' graduation.

Re: Buddy Boat ? - Going to the Abacos

Looks like I'm leaving out of Palm Beach. St. Luicie Inlet is having too many shoaling problems. Also, delayed departure a bit until June 8 or later. Anyone want to buddy boat over?
