Sure, there are markers off the New Jersey coast. There are sea bouys at the inlets and a marker at "The Lump". These, of course, reassure you of your position when you see them. I'm concerned why you would ask if they are present. Any familiarity with charts would easily identify them. What would you expect them to do for you besides being references for waypoints?

I took it to mean he was asking about trap/lobster/fishing buoys. I hope he has studied the charts for the trip??

I remember offshore buoys but we just kept to around the three mile mark all the way until the fateful decision to go into little egg. You could sail closer but at the places where the harbours are the sand runs out pretty far. They are marked but they do shift.
