Chechako

I love the saying you have at the bottom of your post.. lol

We never really grow up, we only learn how to act in public."

If it's OK with you I'll give you credit for it 3 times , then I'll preface the oft used quip by saying "Like I always Say"... ... lol.

Re: Best Quick Introduction to Cruising

I'd never underestimate a course or reading about sailing... of course having them after sailing a lot, better if having any racing experience listening to all that "new" nautical language.
I've sailed almost all my life from A to B, and even crewing amateur races, and only after reading sailing books and listening to short conferences I've realized that I knew just that, going from A to B.
After reading just one book (a good one) and listening a single conference about trimming, my performance went up by far and the following sailing practices had a lot more meaning both racing and cruising.

Re: Best Quick Introduction to Cruising

G'day ,
If you don't want to do a Navigation course or its just not possible for you to find one in your area, try this site. Quite easy to Navigate haha and also Lots of tips to.
Advanced navigation courses - sailing schools Greece and the Greek islands

For me to get to a Navigation course I need to travel 800km 1 way, so thought I'd give this a go. As other people have said you, need to get out and do it for real but knowing some theory is a good start.

Cheers

Hi 25 years racing around sticks and up and down the Coast from Melbourne to Sydney Around the big rock called Tasmania and over to New Zealand and Back in my Ocean racers. I still want to know how to sail Every time I go somewhere I come back knowing I know nothing. But do not stop trying and never stop asking questions. Courses will definatly give you theory but practice experience.
