I left the US for an extended cruise
, but I'm 27 and Canadian. I can tell you there aren't many people under 30 cruising, especially south of the hurricane
belt. And very few of them planning to in the future.
There are lots of retirees further south, who have found the world of cheap
healthcare, lower costs of living, and friendlier climates.
this year the number of boats were down from what we heard. We met a lot of cruisers on the ICW
who were preparing to go to the Bahamas
in a year or three. If the US lifts travel restrictions on Cuba
, you will see a mass exodus of US sailors leaving that's for sure.
