I've watched these threads and am also reading, and what I'm taking away from all of it is that one needs to have diverse skills to be able to advantage whatever may come up. don't rely on any one skill. Serve you well on your own boat also

...may be true in theory but keep in mind cost out-lay on a limited budget and the space required for the equipment and support equipment such as generators and such.

I'll go out on a limb here and say over the last 20+ years, level of skill by the newer lot out cruising has diminished. I would think anyone with moderate skills in woodworking, basic electronics, plumbing and on-board systems could make a modest income in port.
In no way am I suggesting a person set up permanent shop while in a harbor but a little work to pad the cruising kitty before leaving port would probably be harmless to all involved.

Great Idea Atoll !! Ive become a pretty fair Cajun cook livin down the Bayou for the last 10 years !! and cooking Gumbo and such is a heck of a lot less work then fixin diesels !! LOL gotta think on this one !! Bob and Connie

i'm a coming!!!!

when i was fishing i used to come home with all the monk fish cheeks,crab claws, scallops and slightly damaged lobster and crayfish that we couldn't sell.

then cook up a big chowder,served in hollowed out 1/2 loaves of bread for my grottie yottie pals,deal was they brought the booze!

Wait till ya try my Red Fish on the half shell! BBQed with Italian Dressing for a sauce!! with a dash of Slap yo Momma !! YUMMM it's some fine eatin as the cajuns say!! (with rice an peppers on the side !!) Bob and Connie (cookin was another reason I always had a crew for deliverys LOL)
