What Flag to Choose

I am considering making an offer on a boat in Greece. I will most probably have it owned by an LLC that I own. Question is what flag to register it under? Thanks!

Where's your LLC based...
Could always try the UK Lloyds Shipping Registry...

You appear to be in Israel. So, I would definitely recommend a neutral flag of convenience such as Marshall Islands, which has more boats from Greece than anywhere else. If you were in the Americas, I'd recommend the Cayman Islands.

If using an LLC I would register a new LLC in the country in which I was flagging it.

Re: What Flag to Choose

Marshall seems to cost thousands of $.... I think I will simply go with Delaware, USA.

Isle of Man. Nicest people to deal with, helpful, friendly and downright happy to have your boat registered with them.

Jersey is easy and nice people to deal with also. And registration is good for 10 years.

Sent from an undisclosed location on the high seas or from the lounge chair by the pool, you decide.

I've dealt with all flags working professionally on yachts. If the boats going to spend a bunch of time in the states (more than 3 months/year), definitely US flag, no question. If the boat is going to spend a majority of its time in any country, probably flag it there unless there is a good reason to do otherwise. Otherwise, depends on how much the boat is worth. If you don't know what I mean by that, and your boat is worth more than 500k, contact a maritime financial advisor.
