Time to Share

I've owned Shiva since she was first commissioned. Loved every minute of the 26 years. I have no intention of getting rid of this boat and she is in top form in every way.

I am not using her enough... and was thinking about offering a *share* to some qualified sailors... of course for some reasonable price.

There are many concerns... but this could be mutually beneficial for both parties.

I could get some money from this asset...
I could get some help with boat projects (though they are few... but you never know)
Boats are happy when they are sailed and Shiva is used as a weekend home too often as of late.
I could get a some new friends.

The *share partner* gets access to a world class yacht tricked out and ready to go without the time and money it takes to get there...(years and a small fortune)
The *share partner* does not have to use the boat full time (though some might want this... but people tend to have other commitments aside from sailing)
The *share partner* gets to learn and participate in ownership without all the responsibilities and hassles.... shared and with a mentor.
The *share partner* gets real value... beats a stripped down charter boat.

Does this idea appeal to anyone out there? Boat is on LIS area but location can move east.

Open to suggestions.

What say you?

Re: Time to Share

Seems the thing to workout is the liaibilty both to the boat and to youself. Have to be protected from the "share partner".

Thanks for the concern and mention of protection and liability. Send in the lawyers to mess things up.... No seriously... this is something which is a concern and needs to be considered. A boat is a dangerous thing!
