Redoing Cetol

My toe rail has Cetol on it that was done in 2008. I have added a coat once. The boat spent the winter in the BVI. The toe rail has spots where the finish has rubbed off or water has gotten under the finis in spots. A good bit of the rail looks good. I do not have to have it perfect looking. Do I need to take everthing down to bare wood or just lightly sand the whole thing and take the bad spots down to wood? RDW

We've used Cetol for years and love it. Sand the spots down to bare wood. Apply three coats of the base, we use "natural", and apply a couple of coats of the gloss if you have a gloss finish. Then lightly sand down everything and apply a coat of gloss. It should match fairly well. Chuck
